Would they sauna naked with men? “No!” they declare unanimously. “With men, you would get that tension where you feel self-conscious and everything.” Another adds: “It would be boring. If it became mixed, I wouldn’t come any more.” I ask Steve Perkins, the owner of Quays Swim, if naked sessions for men are on the cards. “Around 75% of our swimmers are female,” he says, “so there are no plans for naked men only sessions as we don’t believe it will be financially viable.” But more and more saunas in the UK are offering mixed naked sessions. The men of Surrey just might have to travel.
